The D.A.T.E. project results from the gathering between two brilliant stylists and two young and ambitious students of marketing and business. D. and E., former co-workers for important brands such as Paul Smith, Escada and Valentino, perfectioned their fashion knowledge in London, where they both lived for years surrounded by british trends. A. and T., former students at the Business University in Florence, specialize together at Swimburne University of Melbourne, Australia: A. earns a research degree in fashion marketing, T. graduates in Business Administration. In 2004 they all meet in London. With the british capital on the background they gather and share their personal experiences and knowledge to work on an ambitious project: the creation of the first D.A.T.E. Sneaker.
Creativity, fashion experience and academic studies lead to the idea of a high quality product: a shoe able to show the high standards of the “Made in Italy” tradition through an accurate choice of textiles and leathers combined to expert craftmanship in every single detail.
The ground idea was to create a product referring to vintage influences coming from London's street markets: early seventies patterns next to the vivid colours coming from the English capital's nightlife. A product strongly influenced by the brit street style: lines, forms, nuances and chromatic match the Early Seventies style on display on the city's stands.
The square logo reffers to London's typical square seen as central space for street markets: ideally this is the same place where experiences and tastes of the four D.A.T.E. meet to melt.
The result is an appealing Sneaker: simple forms and essential lines enriched by exclusive and attractive colour matches.
The general market is introduced to D.A.T.E. for the first time during January 2006's Pitti Immagine Uomo with a debutant collection that earns an unparalleled success: it's the real breakthrough that year. The conception of a basic sneaker leaves open space to brave material choices and the search of unseen chromatic matches.
